In My Mailbox (32)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, in which book bloggers post about the books they've bought, borrowed or received in the past week.

New books from the library! I had two holds come in this week: No One is Here Except All Os Us by Ramona Ausubel and Bumped by Megan McCafferty. I also took out two movies: Kiki's Delivery Service and The Emperor's New Groove, both of which I've never seen. Back to the books: I first heard about No One Is Here Except All Of Us in Chatelaine magazine and I thought it looked very interesting. In 1939, a Jewish village in Romania decides to reinvent the world and live outside of time and history. You can read more about the plot here. I'll hopefully be able to read it tomorrow, since I find the synopsis fascinating and can't wait much longer to read it. Bumped is a dystopian novel by the author of Sloppy Firsts. I've heard mixed things about this book, but I'll hopefully be able to give it a shot. It sort of reminds me of The Handmaid's Tale for Teens.

  1. Oh, I've been wanting to read Bumped! And my kids (well, and me, too) LOVE Hayao Miyazaki with a fiery passion, and Kiki is one of our favorites. (Also, can I just say that I love your 'about me' description...like Wickham loves money and 15 yo girls...hilarious!

  2. Pretty covers! Especially 'No One Here Except All of Us'- I love a good font!

Kiki's Delivery Service is an adorable film- I love all the Studio Ghibli films! They are so magical.

  3. I recently read Bumped and I can see why it has mixed reviews. For me, it is like dystopian but a little bit different. I liked it, I hope you do too :)

  4. I didn't enjoy Bumped as much as other YA dystopias, but it does have a brilliant cover. The sequel, Thumped, is also out this month.

  5. I've had Bumped on my TBR since waaaay before Christmas. I don't know, I've heard wonderful things about it, but also some really negative things, so now I'm almost scared to pick it up!

I wish my library had such new releases in though!

  7. I was so excited to read Bumped, and while I did enjoy it, it couldn't live up to my high expectations. But even so, I'm still looking forward to the sequel.
